THE TWO MILLION FILM

The Two Million Context

On October 29, 2015, Turkey opened its borders to over 2 million refugees from war-torn Syria.  As they sought refuge in a new land, their main concern was finding peace and a sense of belonging.  Join Turkish-born Artist , Writer, Co-Director, and  Producer Victoria Derin Isikman (Baratka) and Art Therapist Selin Yazar  as they shed light on the unique story and struggle of these refugees. Victoria Derin and Selin used art as a powerful tool for the Syrians to express their pain and find a sense of belonging.They provided the Syrian refugees with art supplies and materials, enabling them to create their own art and share their stories and emotions through their own hands. This entire journey from Turkey to America is documented by  Victoria Derin Isikman, including interviews with the Syrians expressing their personal struggles and new beginnings. The story is titled:  The 2 Million. The revenues from this social responsibility project in Turkey will be used for the education expenses of Syrian refugee children.
